Academy-Plus is geared for veteran
chamber executives, including those that have
graduated from Academy and the U.S. Chamber's
Institute program.
Academy-Plus will include two three-hour
workshops on topics beyond the usual
curriculum presented at chamber association
conferences. The workshops will be held on
Monday afternoon, August 11th and Tuesday
morning, August 12th at the offices of the
California Chamber of Commerce in Sacramento CA.

If so, this year’s Academy-Plus program may be
just what you need.
The Academy-Plus program is presented for the
continuous learning for veteran Chamber chief
executive officers and Academy and Institute
graduates looking for “what’s next.”
This year’s programming, held in conjunction
with the association’s three-year Academy
program, will be informative and stimulating and
may even challenge long-established notions of
the normalcy in organization management.
The Monday afternoon session on August 11
will feature Peter Yesawich, who has
presented twice at annual W.A.C.E. conferences.
Yesawich, the Chairman & CEO of YPartnership,
will review consumer and travel trends and
present the eye-opening results of the 2008
National Travel Monitor. This comprehensive
marketing will greatly enhance your efforts in
correctly predicting and forecasting the demands
of today’s leisure traveler; ultimately
increasing your community’s overall success.
The Tuesday morning session on August 12th
will feature long-time association professional
Bill Burns will challenge attendees with
a look at a different governance model that
‘flies in the face of tradition.’ Attendees will
learn how boards can tactfully be extricated
from their CEO’s job, and how they can better
contribute their passion and expertise in
fulfilling their governance role, and at the
same time, empowering their CEO’s. The working
title of this August 12 morning session is “Just
Because Your Business Card Says CEO, Is it
True?”
The cost for the Academy-Plus program – 2
three-hour workshops, breaks and the Academy
evening event at the California Railroad Museum
- is $300 per person.
Space is limited and expectations are that this
year’s Academy-Plus program will be a sellout.
WACE members that are graduates of Academy, have
been a CEO for five or more years or have
graduated from the US Chamber Institute program
are invited to participate in Academy-Plus.
