Executive of the Year Award

Matt Mahood

Matt Mahood, President/CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber is the 2010 Executive of the Year. Presenting the award is Kelly Hall, President of the Longview TX Chamber; the 2009 recipient of the award.

The Executive of the Year Award recognizes a chamber CEO for outstanding performance over the last year. Candidates are judged in five areas of expertise including finance, communications, legislative action, and membership services performed by the chamber.

Matt Mahood, President/CEO of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is the recipient of the 2010 W.A.C.E. “Executive of the Year” Award.

Last year's recipient, Kelly Hall, President of the Longview TX Chamber made the presentation. She stated:

Chamber and President…..“Our Chamber has stepped
out confidently and forcefully. Responding to
crisis is a fundamental mission of a CEO. Under
the steady, focus leadership of the President &
CEO our Chamber has redoubled efforts to serve
the businesses and counties in which we serve.”}

^{I’d like to highlight some of these execs
accomplishments that were shared with us.}

^{This Chamber executive was the lead on bringing
together community development programs under
one brand.
Community stakeholders came together to
develop a new pathway for business to give back
to the community.
Under this umbrella $35,000 was raised in
the first year. Oh and by the way over 600
volunteer hours went into this process.}

^{Our Exec does not shy away from challenges and
led his organization to tackle 2 key
propositions.
One of these propositions pitted two of
their biggest members against each other.
Standing up to BE the VOICE of BUSINESS was a
political risk but it shored up credibility as
the ADVOCATE for Business.}

^{Our Chamber Executive also understands the
importance of Regionalism and has forged
relationships that have ensured the region had
access to the financial and human capital needed
to advocate for numerous initiatives to enhance
the economic environment for businesses to be
successful in such a rocky economy.}

^{This year’s Chamber Executive of the Year
understands that by building a strong
organizational foundation and moving a chamber
forward while being true to the industry’s core
values DOES produce results.
One key
measurement we all use is membership dollars.
This Chamber recognized a 13% in dues
this past year.
I’d say that is pretty amazing
considering this countries current economic
state.}

^{The 2010 Executive of the Year has been in the
Chamber industry for nearly 9 years. He is a
graduate of California State University –
Hayward with a BS in Business Administration
with an emphasis in Organizational Communication
and Public Relations.
He currently serves on the Northern CA
World Trade Center Board, WACE Board of
Directors, Cleaner Air Partnership, Executive
Steering Committee, Sacramento Works (WIB),
Board of Directors, and was the co-founder of
Partnership for Prosperity.
