Spend a little time visiting with local Chambers and it quickly becomes evident that there are many who are doing incredible work on behalf of their members and their communities.   Whether it is delivering innovative and impactful programming, increasing the effectiveness of their communications, or making a real difference as catalysts, conveners and champions, the creativity and resourcefulness of local Chambers is noteworthy.

One of the key tenants of WACE is recognizing excellence and sharing it within the community to inspire Chambers everywhere to step up their game.   “When I first started in Chamber work, I had some great mentors who told me that R&D in the Chamber industry means “rip off and deploy,” shared Glenn Morris.   “Seriously, one of the reasons I was successful as a Chamber CEO was the willingness of peers to share and work collaboratively across communities.”

WACE Chamber and Individual Awards

WACE’s Awards program is designed to highlight excellence in local Chambers and among the individuals who lead those Chambers.   Specifically, WACE provides recognition through these awards as part of each Annual Conference:

• Overall Communications
• Outstanding Chamber Programs
• Executive of the Year
• Hathaway Staff Person of the Year
• Pettit Memorial Excellence in Leadership Award
• Hammer Memorial Scholarship
• Rose Memorial Scholarship

Details about the awards and the judging criteria can be found on the W.A.C.E. website. The online application portal is ready for you and will remain open until November 15.   

Regardless of whether an entry wins or not, all applications receive feedback from the judging panels, which often can be worth the effort and cost to apply.

Annual Conference Scholarships

The W.A.C.E. Educational Foundation annually provides scholarships to help Chamber professionals attend the Annual Conference. This year, the Foundation is offering up to twenty (20) scholarships of $575 each to help defray the costs of the conference.  Applications can be submitted through the W.A.C.E. Award/Scholarship Application Portal before November 15.  Award selections will be shared by the middle of December.
